Blushing Bohemian Scandi 1-bedroom Condo in Makati
Happy 2019, you guys! Updating my blog on a regular basis should be one of my new year’s resolutions, no? I feel bad as time just passes by so quickly juggling my corporate job, styling biz, and activities on a daily basis. But 2018, for me, was a very productive year.
I was also able to finally start my very own YouTube channel, albeit slow moving but it still is something to be excited about in support of the business. Many thanks to my supportive friends (angels!) who work with me behind the scenes (Thanks direk Manny, Nichole, and Jhap!). If you haven’t subscribed, please do!
Now on to this long overdue blog post. This project started around end of Q3 to early Q4 of 2018. It was just a typical smoke break downstairs at my office when a colleague approached me and told me about her brand new condo unit, which she intended to give to her daughter. She’s Ms. Wen, one of our sales vice presidents at the company I work for (Century Properties). Of course her condo is located in one of our projects in Makati called Milano Residences, the only residential tower in Asia designed by Versace Home. Not to sound very marketing-oriented here, but it really is one of the most beautiful residential towers in the Philippines. I like her story. A respected, hard working, doting mother giving a brand new home to her high-achiever daughter. She was beaming with pride when she said her daughter is an honor student who currently studies law. For me, beautifying homes for my clients is more than just unleashing creativity. I really enjoy listening to their stories as they inspire me. I make it a point to choose projects that bring positivity as it really is infectious. Not just for money or self-actualization.
My design process revolved around… wait for it… the daughter’s Pinterest board! How Millennial and Gen Z, isn’t it? In fact, I wasn’t able to meet her prior to turnover. Not even a consultation meeting with the mom. So imagine just how nervous I was dissecting her daughter’s styling preferences without an actual meet-up. I was just very thankful that Ms. Wen trusted my choices. Although I did clear some functionality preferences and an agreed overall budget to work with. I feel like when clients give me creative freedom, my output looks and feels better. After reviewing the daughter’s Pinterest board, I submitted a mood board presentation, color/paint scheme choices, furniture style choices, and a cost estimate sheet. The client then gave her comments, instructions/requests, and an overall budget to work with. She then signed off on a contract and deposited the fund to my account. I quickly started my sourcing, shopping, deliveries arrangement, work proper on site, and so on. In a span of 7 weeks, we were done!
More details here!
Unit size: 1-bedroom suite around 60 sqm, with a long balcony
Color scheme: Blush, pale yellow, grays
Theme: Modern Bohemian-Scandinavian
Timeline: 7 weeks, mostly on weekends only
Budget: around 12,000 pesos per square meter (inclusive of key appliances, all furniture, accessories, kitchen equipment and cutlery, minor construction works, deliveries, general cleaning, professional fee)
My services cover almost everything as I always aim to turnover a complete unit – all you need to bring are your clothes. Of course I had to share this project with my friends from Real Living magazine. So happy that it got featured online! Check it out here:

I really (really) enjoyed working on this project because it unleashed the girly side of me. Working with the client was a breath of fresh air. I guess my advice for those who are thinking of getting an interior designer or interior stylist is to feel at ease. Choose a talent you can trust and show it. Check their track record. Creatives like us work better when we feel like there is trust and our collaboration is healthy. You will see the passion in our work.

Cheers to a fruitful 2019! Hoping to work on more projects and get restarted on this side hustling life.
Live stylishly!
Love, Jules
